elks...Thanks for the heads up. I'll take the advice and focus mainly on the mulies. I've always heard to get away from the roads but this particular unit seems to be pretty heavy on the road access but I guess the deer are still there.
Thanks Stubaby. I'm really not a trophy elk hunter, just a meat hunter but my priority will be on mule deer. Never hunted this unit so I don't know what to expect to see for mule deer.
Hey All,
Pumped about planning for the hunt this fall...wanted to throw out to the veteran Colorado hunters if it's worth getting the OTC elk for unit 22 while I hunt 2nd season mulies? I'll be hunting solo for mule deer and I'm currently on the fence if I should save up for the extra OTC elk...
Hey Wheaty17...I've been thinking about a high country hunt in that area for some time. I have the points to draw, but I didn't have anyone to go with. I've been going back and fourth with what I want to do with my points and a high country hunt does sound exciting as I know I'll probably only...
Hey gents...so I'll be hunting Idaho OTC for deer this year again and on my way back to Texas I'd like to hunt second season mule deer in Colorado.
Currently sitting on 6 points for Colorado mule deer and I'm wanting to cash them in this year, I know I'll be throwing points away for a second...
Well that's rough eating a tag like that...I think I'll stick with a second or third season hunt like they guys have been recommending. Theres a few decent looking units I think I can draw...just hard to settle on one but hey I've got a few months and thats all part of the fun.
Well it looks as if I won't have enough points to draw a high country hunt aS it stands now. So it looks like a 3rd season hunt is the best choice just as ishootdasmallones was saying.
