I can always step down magnification, there's a discussion there. However bigger reticle means more light, and thats not something im coming down off of. Also depending on brand size and weight on say a 44 vs a 50 is negligible and some 50s are the same or even lighter then some 42s or 44s...
I Like the extended magnification for two reasons. Not the most efficient means of scanning, but it fits in well with binos and how I hunt, which also means I can avoid lugging around a spotting scope. Secondly I dont have to use it, but if I am spending the money doesnt hurt to have it...
Looking for my first high end scope. Want to keep it to these 4 brands, been down a ton of rabbit holes already but have it narrowed down. I would consider myself a mid range shooter in the 300-500 range, with longest take on a deer being 700. So 7-800 yards is important. This is an out west...
Typically you dont want mess around with different ammo types specially the drastic different types you have listed. If you have to use different ammo at least get the same grain at a minimum. The other reality is anything under 200yds shouldnt be affected all that much, if your good shot...
Thanks for the info. Based on mostly likely getting something like 30MOA out of the scope I'm not sure the 20 MOA rail is needed and probably looking at with 30MOA on the scope, getting to a range north 1100 or so. Getting the 20 MOA rail without doing the math, probably puts this thing out to...
Had a previous set up from 8 years ago and this all figured out then. Just upgrading. Have taken multiple deer past 500 with good shots really not that hard with the right equipment. Appreciate the input
I have a 300 WSM (browning x bolt) Just bought a SIG 6x24-50 scope. Ordered a 20MOA rail for it, I know it wont hurt, but thinking do I really need it. Also going to get the SIG custom turret. Scope will be zeroed at 100 yds, 1/4MOA at 100 yds on the scope
Anyways here is my math...
Anybody see the sigs in stores so you can look at them? I would love to get rid of the extra range finders. But I love my nikons and dont want to downgrade on glass.
Other question is if the electronics die I would assume it doesnt affect the function of the glass.
Based on price it kind of...
