    Nosler Accubonds Long Range

Perhaps this will help... The Winchester Expedition long range ammo uses the Nosler Accubond Long Range. NOT the standard Accubond in different weights. They are different bullets. See link for Nosler's info on the ABLRhttps://www.nosler.com/accubond-long-range-bullet/

What is with catch and release?

As a fly fisherman at heart, this issue comes up in discussions quite a bit.... Do I kill fish? Yep, every once and again. Mostly bass or Crappie... Enough for Fish Tacos once and again. Do I go out at times specifically hoping to find a few fish to throw in the cooler? Yep, again, fish...

    300 Win Mag Close Range

If you want something for short range only, but could really pack a punch, a round nose, or protected point bullet will begin energy transfer a bit faster than a spitzer. You could always take a look at something like a 240gr Woodleigh weldcore, a 200gr Lapua mega, 220 Gr Nosler Partition...

    300 Win Mag Close Range

If you really want to hammer a whitetail without blowing up a bullet, I'd go to a heavy bullet at moderate velocity. Back in 2007 I shot an Antelope doe at about 35yds with a .325WSM and a 200Gr Nosler Accubond, she didn't take a step. She just folded. If I were in your shoes I'd probably...

Go to lure for trout in high country lake.

Often times trout in mountain lakes are willing to eat just about anything that happens in front of them that they think may contain calories...... Just think if you had to eat a year's worth of calories in 3-4 months.

Go to lure for trout in high country lake.

2 Absolute favorite Panther Martin colors are the silver blade, yellow body with the red dots, and the Gold blade, black body with yellow dots. Carry a couple of those in the smaller sizes, a silver and gold Jakes Spin-a-lure (aka the money clip) and some gold and silver Thomas Cyclones. When...

    choosing a 308 for elk

I've taken deer and elk with a 180Gr Partition out of a .308Win. I was running federal factory ammo and it did just fine. Keep the shots inside 400yds and you'll be good to go. Realistically a couple inches of difference in drop at 300yds is manageable. Elk are quite a bit bigger target than...

    1st or 2nd focal plane

First or Second focal plane also depends some on manufacturer. If you have an opportunity to look through both from the manufacturer of your choice It's definitely worth it. With a higher power long range scope, a FFP is a real benefit. Both at higher and lower powers. At lower powers, you...

    Zeiss Conquest setting

The best thing to do, if the minimum setting is 50 yds; then find an object you can focus on at 50yds. Set the parallax setting for that distance and adjust the focus for your eye at that distance. Get the cleanest sharpest focus that you possibly can. After that, I typically moved to a...

    Recovered Nosler Partitions..Let's See 'Em!

An interesting comparison. Bullet on the right is a 180gr Partition from the old Federal High Energy factory load. I believe it's 2650ish FPS, this came out of a Bull in 2011. Shot was quartering to at about 150yds, broke the close shoulder, slug was against the far skin, about the 3rd to...

    Zeiss Conquest setting

I have a Conquest 4.5-14x44 with the side parallax adjustment. I have not been able to correlate the markings with distance.

    Choose My Ammo

Plan your ammo for the largest game you would shoot. Anything that will work for an Elk with work for an Antelope. I have taken several antelope, deer and elk with Nosler Accubonds. That would be my pick. I would go with a 165gr or heavier personally. Out west, especially in areas with lots...

    Case preparation

With new brass, I typically run it through a sizer and chamfer at the minimum. I will also length check all the new brass and trim if needed. The only exception for me is Lapua brass, typically that stuff good to go out of the box.
