    Fixed Broadhead Or Mechanical

Mechanicals are what I’ve been using the last several years since OR made them legal. I had good luck with fixed flying well prior as well, not all fixed heads fly well and very few fly as well as your average mechanical though. I wanted to switch due to poor blood trails or poor to me since I’m...

Any Insight into Elk Herd Health in these E. Oregon Units?

Both have plenty of good bulls and ODFW's ratios are BS. Pine creek can be pretty rugged and nasty, typically rugged and nasty country holds old animals.

    Between Legrand & Cove,Oregon

There are quite a few, most come down in Sept. just hang closer to the mtn or along the rivers. Some of the biggest herds I’ve seen are over off the clover creek exit by North Powder when alfalfa is in that field in the fall.

    Weiser River Elk

I was 6700 in line and actually this tag was # 4 or 5 on the list but was all that was left, I plan on making the most out of it!

    Elk .... Let's see them!!!

Here's my 2022 bull, he's my 5th 6 point bull in a row on public ground in OR. (2021 barely had a sixth) Here are my last 5 years' bulls in order from newest to oldest.

    Weiser River Elk

31 is next door (Brownlee Zone), but 22 is in the unit and the motorized hunting rule doesn't apply, 32 & 32a the motorized hunting rule is in effect though. I believe that means all of the ATV and Motorcycle trails are open through the season in 22 but not in the other 2.

    Weiser River Elk

I was curious if anyone would be willing to share a little info about the Weiser river unit. I'm kind of hoping since most of Weiser river is pretty mellow country that most of the people will be in the easier stuff. I will be archery hunting, and know finding elk in crowded units typically...

    Nevada Unit 51 Antelope

It's hard to believe they aren't getting any rain in Northern Nevada, we have been getting hammered for months in North East Oregon and we are only 4hrs away. It snowed 6" on the Tollgate Hwy yesterday and several inches anywhere over 5K feet. The ranchers in NEO haven't even had to run their...

    Nevada Unit 51 Antelope

Guys I got lucky and got an alternate tag for Unit 51 archery horns longer than ears antelope tag. I’m not familiar with the area and would love any pointers or advice from anyone that has hunted it. I put in because I was hoping to draw the early archery deer tag and though it would be fun to...

SW ID Deer Rut / Live Hunt

Awesome, I’m spending the 25-29th over on the late archery hunt. Hopefully it will be good timing with the late fall this year. I’ve seen several deer cruising here at home this week but no big boys out yet.

Anyone tried the Hornhunter Full Curl System for a multiday pack?

Good work on the hunt. I’m a little late to the ball game but did run the full curl system for several years. It worked ok for me but my newer more expensive packs haul heavy or large loads so much more comfortably. I’ve done several backpacking trips with the HH system and when used all...

    ATA lengths and accuracy

There are several advantages to longer ATA bows, a longer bow is more stable, an example of this would be to take a 4' 4x4, put it above your head and spin in circles, now take a 8' 2x4 and do the same thing, the 4x4 although the exact same weight will be much easier to start and stop with...

    Elk broadheads?

I agree with Trail, I would look at Solid, Kudu, IW, Magnus or similar heads, cut on contact small cutting diameter. I wouldn't personally go with a 125gr head unless you stick with Iron Will where the cutting diameter stays small, most heads get bigger as weight goes up and that means more...
