The hunt went great. Me and the guy i was with both killed decent 6 points and a 3rd guy killed a giant mule deer for that area. Other hunters and the game warden were shocked that we found a mule deer of that size in that area. Rutting action was heavy for about the first week and bulls...
i ran into Corey Jacobson and Donnie a few years ago in montana on a forest service road. They were friendly but you could tell they didnt want us to recognize them.
Thanks for the reply! I don’t think I can PM you. I tried something but not sure it worked? I’m new to figuring out this forum. If you know how to PM send me one of you don’t mind and I will reply.
Thanks for the response. Big snow is what we’re most concerned with. Were you able to fill your tag? The season actually opens on the 10th this year before the deer season so I’m hoping that helps. Do you think some bulls will still be with cows or will the mature bulls be in post rut mode...
Hey Jag, have you hunted 38-1? If so how is access to the foothills. i am trying to have a back up plan in case weather gets real bad. I drew the tag this year.
how bad does the weather have to be before roads start closing? I have learned weather is a big issue for this tag. How is access at the game management areas?
ive got a guy going with me that has a deer tag for that area. He is mostly there to help with the elk hunt but he was able to pick up a general deer tag. Whats the chances of stumbling across a decent buck?
Good luck on your hunt. I drew a type 1 tag this year in 38. I have heard about the weather issue but i just tell myself not every elk can go to private right away.
