Good to hear about a few bruins being seen, keep in mind that far and away the best time is still to come.. As far as calls go, I'm absolutely convinced that most any call will do on any given day. You just need to find a tone, cadence, volume level etc that makes that bruin up and come in...- Mato

That's way cool! And I'd enjoy meeting you if Kurt and I meet up. I way prefer to spot the bears first, then decide if I'm going to try to take them out or if I'm just calling them for giggles. Crit'r call is one of my fav's, the one in your pic appears to be their smallest model (called the PeeWee). I carry that and use it a bit, but I normally use their biggest model (Magnum). The Magnum one can really get into and when I'm calling for bear I'm 110% in their face with the call from...- Mato

I have a 360 PD as well, like you say not a ball of fun with BB loads, even heavy 38's in it get my hands attention. I did put some bigger Hogue grips on it and that's helped. I did finish off an elk with it, glad it only took one shot:) Personally I prefer to shoot a 329PD to the 360 PD (both... -

340 Wby for my Dream Hunt!!
I've quite a bit of 340 experience. Personally. I'd have that factory brake cut off and toss it and have a Terminator put on it. As well I'd have it bedded. The 340's always been one of the most accurate rounds out there in guns that are well done. Should be in the 3/4" range for 3 rounds... -

I'm a huge fan of TFO, grab their entry level rod in a 9' 5 weight (or something darn close), some SA line double taper WF floating and an inexpensive reel and you'll be golden.- Mato

Black bears spring or fall?
If I had to pick (which gladly I don't have to:)....I'd take spring. Generally a longer window of opportunity for good hunting. IMO- Mato
