What’s the perfect big game arrow setup?

I know y'all talking compound but as a recurve bow shooter, 47# Bob Lee, I'm shooting 29 in Gold Tip Trads 35/55 with a 130 gr Grizzly COC single bevel broadhead that is one of toughest heads. I get it shaving hair with a regular bastard file. Total arrow weight right at 480 which is on the...

    .280 Remington Powders

What your load with the 7828SSC? I'm just now working on my 280AI and I have that powder. Also might try H4831SC, RL 17, & IMR4350 . I've got the 140 and 150 in Accubond and Partition, and 160 Partition. I may go to 150's. Not sure yet.

Same here, always archery elk, last 3 years muzzleloader, old honey hole dried up due to DOW issuing extra cow tags, hurt the area for archery and muzzleloader. Went to 70 last yr, never seen so many camps, I notice 70, 71 now draw area for archery. Probably take a few years to come back.

    Recurve advice for elk.

I used to shoot a 50# recurve back in my younger days. Over time as we age we lose muscle. I was 64 when I shot my bull in 2015 with my 47# recurve at 30 yards. I had dropped my bow weight years ago due to being weak from back surgery around my neck area. Lots of bow hunters get hung up on way...

    Recurve advice for elk.

Not to argue, but I have been shooting instinctive for 40+ years. I agree with using a 40# bow to get started and work on form. I shot completely through a whitetail with my same broadhead/arrow set up for elk.

Ask your onX Hunt questions here!

Ok, I'm new and I do not see where I can start a new question on Onxmaps so I will respond to this question with my question for now...I am trying to see my time, mileage, mph on my saved tracks. I can pull them up and see the tracks but can't find the details above...

I am longtime hunter, outdoors guy, etc...I found this forum trying to find more info on OnXmaps. This is my first year to use it. Where is best place to post? Prior to sign up I was looking at all the questions and answers on a forum. Maybe I'm on the wrong one. Can anyone help guide this old...

    Two blade or three

I've killed 3 elk, 1 with compound 2 with recurve. All with 2 blades steel one piece you sharpen to razor edge. The old 125 Zwickey and last 2 with Grizzly 125 or 130. Grizzly is my go to now. Both will bust through bone and don't come apart. I'm old school and dont care about the latest fancy...

    Recurve advice for elk.

Bob Lee invented the 3 piece takedown. I am personal friends with he and son Rob who currently owns and builds custom recurve. I think it is www.bobleebows.com Jacksonville, Tx. As stated by others, I would find a used one to mess around with before spending a lot of money on a custom. Go to...

    Bows on Horseback?

Free tip with the horse mounted bow scabbard. I've bowhunted on horses 10 years. It is hard to mount a horse with extra clothes, a day pack, and making sure your boot clears the bow going over the saddle. I use a longbow or recurve so I made my own case out of the leg of old blue Jean's. Tied it...
