I got the Garmin Messenger (not InReach) worked silky smooth with the iPhone. One charge lasted me 10+ days in AK bush and had battery remaining when we left. It takes a little while to synch but works smoothly and inexpensive.
I used the garmin messenger on my first trip to AK, this year. Worked great-slight delay but presume same with inreach.battery was at 78% after 7 days.
GrantK - this is excellent feedback. Thank you. The Quests have been so comfortable that I was wondering why they were never listed for the mountain hunting. Your explanation helps. Ordered a pair of Crispis and if those do not work/fit, I will try the la Sportiva's or Scarpas. Thank you
Mont Mahoney - Alaska Dall Sheep Guides. He has been great and has provided a full list of gear recommendations. Just thought I would check here as well on a couple items.
I have my first sheep hunt this year and am going to Alaska (early to mid August). Needless to say I have probably spent as much money on gear as I have the hunt. I have been reviewing a lot of boots on line, lots of good threads here, but living on the east coast (NJ) I have had a hard time...
This is on my bucket list. I am not set on shooting a mountain lion but I am so excited to go on the chase and photograph some.Congrats - great trip report!
I have been so inconsistent. My weight is ranging from 214-220, started the year at 217'ish. Intending to get close to 200 by 8/1. I have been good about exercise, so it is all in the diet. My travel has been an issue, but really my own discipline.
