Son shot a perfect eater yesterday. 360 yards on heavily hunted public land. Thankfully only a few miles from the truck.
The type of country we often hunt. You have to be quick, the deer move through the clearings and often a long shot is required. 360 yards is unusually close.

NZ has very strict rules about bringing in meat etc. I gave it away to a friend and honestly I'm happy to be able to share. I'm heading out tomorrow to shoot a deer with my son to fill the freezer.
I'm leaving for a trip to Jackson Hole / Yellowstone next week and am trying to figure out if the shutdown will impact my trip. Perhaps the National Elk Refuge and Yellowstone (I'm booked into the Old Faithfull and Mammoth Lodges) could be closed?
