    The future of Preference Points

State’s rights/ 10th amendment. Nobody in a western state would support it. Certainly understand why non-western state residents would want it. No two western states have ever even coordinated draw deadlines/results to help out a travelling hunter. How would they ever coordinate on tag...

    The future of Preference Points

Thanks for figuring this one out. And WTH – Colorado doesn’t have an NR cap on pronghorn? Is anyone at the wheel in Colorado? Arizona has NR cap on Javelina.

    The future of Preference Points

So... It is my understanding that the CO Hybrid draw is ran AFTER the primary draw. The NR cap for all of the of the hybrid hunt codes is met with the primary draw. So while an NR could theoretically draw in the hybrid - it doesn't happen because the NR cap was already met. (sounds alot...

    The future of Preference Points

Bingo. The fact that the CO Hybrid draw does not apply to NRs is widely misunderstood and hugely important. CPW can't keep up the PP charade very much longer, correct? Seems like the pain of transition will only increase every year they wait on converting more (all?) species to some type...

    Generosity to non-residents

Many years of ~300 Minnesota moose tags and Minnesota residents kept every single tag for themselves. When MN moose numbers return, MN residents will likely continue to benefit from 100/0 unless you lobby your agency for a broad 90/10 regulation to share with your neighbors. WY and others have...

    The future of Preference Points

I profess to have about 3 brain cells and every year I buy $9 NR bear points ostensibly waiting for a unit 851 tag. I've never even thought twice about actually hunting a bear but I throw 851 on my app every year despite being a few points behind max. Technically, I could get lucky and get...

    Colorado 2nd Draw?

"No refunds" fixes alot of this line-cutting, point creep and NR cap-busting. The "any reason" (and last minute-NV) refund states of CO & NV encourage risky application behavior. Then, especially the RES, will return tags for low cost and get their points back (NV even gives +1 points for...

WY Game and Fish wants your thoughts on the preference point system (Moose and Sheep)

#2 sounds good - but is too easy to game. Everyone will just designate a hunt code to flood with first choices – hoping/planning to fail and take your point as backup. That’s what happened with GEN-deer Thousand Lakes unit in Utah before Utah closed the loophole where you could draw choice #2...

    Colorado 2nd Draw?

Sounds like this all was originally a great idea when originated. Just poor execution by CPW in the details and evolution. Because CPW is NOT removing folks from the point pool for either Secondary/Youth draw or via the 11am Wed re-issue grab-bag. And while CPW has all the data and technology...

    Colorado 2nd Draw?

I read the CPW commissioner bios and yes - ain't no way most of them could/would follow this thread. Same problem in Nevada where only 1 of the 7 commissioners (i.e., NBWC) seems to understand the very similar problems with their re-issue process (FCFS). It was sad to watch that single...

    Colorado 2nd Draw?

Really - this started with only trying to fix MSG reissuance and CPW created NR sniping of RES returns on D-E-P? Even for a ewe or cow moose tag, why not just punt those tags to the following year or build excess into a quota? DM053O3R required 15 NR points to draw in 2021 and CPW offers it...

    Colorado 2nd Draw?

100%. Sickening to the folks who applied for those tags in the primary draws to see them show up later on re-issue/FCFS. And ONLY Colorado and Nevada have this problem because of their ridiculously generous return policies and poorly designed reissue/FCFS programs. Most of the returns are...

    Colorado 2nd Draw?

Beautiful! Thank you for pulling out the primo DM buck tags from the master list. I missed a few in my first review of the list. Mind sharing the same for EE/EM bull elk tags? I will now apply BOTH of my NR children for the most premium tags on that list for just a $9.17 lottery charge...

    Generosity to non-residents

Minnesota issued many moose tags over many years - 100% of them to MN residents. ~300 tags per year - exclusively to MN residents. Perhaps 0% NR allocation on MN moose tags is more relevant here than the Mayo clinic?

Bill to expand WY Wilderness areas

WY shouldn't get a single acre of more US Wilderness as long as their state legislature is wielding it as a a discrimination tool. At least Wyoming's 90-5-5 proposal is honest discrimination rather than hidden pretext.
