yes the south island has a lot of DOC [ public ] lands to hunt on. i have hunted in a cpl areas and also taken tahr and chamois in those areas- jbm

the declaration of compliance is just that . i got my letter from a tannery and in a nut shell it say he has inspected my hides/head/horns and found them to meet the requirements for transport and importation into the usa based on what the usa requires for bring them in. it is not needed but i...- jbm

no issue bringing them back into usa i had the skin salted and dried and the head/horns boiled and cleaned. plus i had a certificate of export from DOC [ $40 ] and a declaration of compliance [ $25 ] from a local tannery all money well spent as i have come past customs now a few times and...- jbm

thanks for the clearer outlook on what these blocks are for kiwi. yes the ground is very hard going and not sure there is very many hunters that can or even want to try to walk into this block or any other i bet. we had a great time and looking forward to doing it again 1 day if a block permit...- jbm

a tahr block is all public land that DOC [ like our forest service ] set aside with very limited number of permits given out. not sure why they do it but i was told it is to manage an older class of tahr. if somebody reading this knows why please had it so we all know why they do it. all the...- jbm

yes you would think so but they are not with the number 5 in both minor and major it is up to the county to rule your subdivision if it is 5 lots as minor or major and yes this was in missoula county. they should have 1-5 as a minor and 6-? as a major but they have 5 in both -

this is just another area that should not have a gray area to it . a hunter planning to big game hunt in mt should not need a lawyer on retainer just to find out where and where not he can hunt.. anybody i ran into a gray area kinda like this when i did a subdivision on some land i own . 1 -5...
