    Tire Chains for an Elk Hunt

    I would suggest getting them in SW Montana when you arrive. You can pick them up almost anywhere, Napa, Les Schwab, Murdochs, Quality Supply, etc. and get the correct size to fit your tires, all four, and chain tighteners.

    Do not waste your money on any of these products, clothing or sprays. Repeated scientific studies have shown, as would be expected, that none of them work.

    I believe Warren Johnson outfitters camp may be in unit 316, possibly 313. The story I've heard is that year before last they didn't shoot an elk in the back country camp. Not sure if its true or not but the backcountry early rifle hunt is a fraction of what it used to be.

    I think you'll probably be OK. I believe the gpshuntingmaps will show ownership down to 40 acres maybe, so if you zoom in really tight you will likely not see ownership names at all or may have to pan around to find the owners name

    Map looks pretty good except in the northern purple zone the map should extend a fair bit further south and east. I have seen numerous photos, video and have knowledge of griz much closer to Helena and to the south and east of town. These are frequent observations not random wanderings.
