Interesting, but more I think about it the more is makes sense. Deer hunting is the biggest drive for me at least in California hunting and fishing. I wonder how this correlates to sportsman leaving California? In this time frame more people have shifted to living in urban environments and less...- H&H

I think it will be small innitially but if tags were reduced long term along with other measuers of preditor control, buck to doe ratios and implementing new hunts, forest management and protecting migration routes there might be hope. I'm not trying to talk budgets other than I highly doubt DFW...- H&H

I would gladly give up a year or 3 of hunting to reduce tag numbers and let the species rebound. The problem is that CA DFW depend HEAVILY on deer tag revenue. So the powers that be will never make that decision, unless we want to pay $300 for a deer tag. If I remember correctly there was a...- H&H

A lot of good info here that people put together, gets people thinking. All I know that in my neck of the Sierra Nevada Foothills, land is being cut up and developed for single family homes. The migratory paths have been cut off with interstates and subdivisions. The forests above 5000' are...- H&H

I agree with you. But the mindset of if you don't want to pay then don't play will lead to a drop off of NR's, which is what all the residents who are complaining and blaming all the hunting problems on NR's want. I don't know but I would guess a very large chunk of the money that Idaho funds...- H&H

Here is my issue with the cost increase. I would be happy to drop more money and have a tag numbers reduced for the overall benefit of hunting. 7 Mag Bullet Choice
I started with 140g Barnes TTSX and switched last year to 150g Barnes. Trajectory is almost exactly the same and get a little more energy out of it, about 150 ft-lbs. I was hunting an area where 3-400 yd shot would be necessary. Took a cow with one shot. -

Welcome, Im from Nevada City and normally hunt D3-5, but like others said start racking up points for x zones/premium hunts. Most deer are taken on private property in the foothills so if you know of anyone with property big enough to hunt, start buttering them up now! -

This is my 12th year hunting. My father in law got me started and we still hunt together...guess I should say share the same camp in Idaho.
