    Boundary waters under attack

Tecumseh is such a good example. If anyone needs a good read, The Frontiersmen, by Allan W. Eckhart is such a great book.

    Boundary waters under attack

As someone that owns land in St Louis county, MN, it's beyond troubling that this passed on so many levels. Know strong conservatives who are strongly against this insanity. Am 7/8th's Swede and really enjoy Sigurd Olson's writing and his history of protecting the BWCA. He was in a constant...

    Boundary waters under attack

Would like to say, unbelievable, but it's not. Blindly ignorant, most definitely. Stupidly short sighted on so many levels.

    Colorado Filming Permit Denied

Remember seeing this thread years ago and thought about replying but elected not too. Shot my first elk in unit 4 back in 2004ish in the first elk only season. My dad still had an elk tag, plus we had deer tags for the 2nd season. Hunted all over unit 4. Hunted south of slater creek and county...

So much for the vaunted Swarovski warranty.

Have a pair of 10x42 swaros that are 25 yrs old. Been in for work once on the eye cups. Cost $60. They were great to deal with. Been used and abused. Never had any other issue with them. Back then there wasn't a lot of choices. Own other optic brands and can't complain to much about any of them...

    Newest Poaching case

Not blaming viewers, but influencers are just feeding the beast what they want to eat. The court of public opinion differs greatly from legal ones. Like to give most people the benefit of the doubt till the evidence is completely brought forth and revealed. But hard not to see some of his...

Ever walk past an elk that was watching you?

Was there just enough topography there to hide the first elk from the two guys? The first elk looked like he never saw them either, but that elk looked a touch lower and shielded by the cover a bit more. The 2nd elk looked out in the opening more, not so close to the cover and a bit higher than...

MN Deer Farmers fighting laws designed to help control CWD in state

Steve Porter's son Dillan Porter started Hunters for Hunters, an organization that basically started out of the frustration of many in the upper great lakes region dealing with wolves. Steve is all over fb complaining about the mndnr, democratic politicians and conservation officers, along with...

    Elk Week with Jim Zumbo

Can't wait to listen. Read a lot of Zumbo's stuff over the years and always enjoyed his writing. Have some of his books and will never get rid of them. The story telling ability good writers are gifted with is a lost art form in our hunting culture.

Newest US Senate Land Sale Amendment

Thanks Randy for all the time, effort and work you do to inform the communities this would effect and getting people off the couch and involved. Knowing Lee's history, doubt this will stop him from trying to keep pushing this cart up the hill every chance he gets. Hope he never finds a way...

    The Fishin’ Was Too Good

That oil temp suggestion is spot on! One of the biggest things people don't pay enough attention too. The breading can be great, but if that oil heat isn't right, the rest doesn't matter. Learned long ago from an old guy if there are any leftovers to make a great sandwich out of them. That is...

    The Fishin’ Was Too Good

Easy to do and would almost rather have that then what happened to a friend who had missed a fish and didn't find it for a week in the heat of the summer in his well. Have had a 2000 lund 2025 pro v forever. Years ago when our kids were young they use to refer to the rear well as the swimming...

Federal Land Sales for Affordable Housing?

Tough thinking about what this could do if it gets enough traction and was spun/sold to the masses within the idea it's so great, it has bipartisan support. In a political climate where there is none, it could be easily sold as the one thing that can be agreed on. Once that dam has it's first...

Excluding Hunting/Hunters from Wildlife Management - Episode 1 of 4

Just finished episode 2 of this series with Kim Thorburn. As someone who feels like a closet birder in the hunting community and a closet hunter in the birding community, many hunters would be shocked how many birders are actually great, well educated, open minded, common sensed people. Have...
