pat2522, this is all pretty new for me so I don't know how good my tips will be. I've gotten a ton of good info from the bureau of land management though. I started there and have just gone on and on. Everyone has been great when requesting maps to hunting sites.
Let me know where your going...
Ok guys, quick update...just got my topo map in the mail and another map is on the way. Got my area pinned down for my first elk hunt in Colorado. Gotta say....Cant wait!
Next question.... Any ideas on what kinda of boots to wear? Kansas is flat so my boots don't get much up/ down action.

Awsome! Thanks deer_shooter. I hadn't thought of a second gun. Your list is great! I'll be printing it off, starting to gather what I have, and using your "tip sheet" as a great point of referance.
Thanks for the advice!
Awsome advice deer_shooter. I'm planing an elk hunt for next fall in Colorado. Will be my first time hunting there. What gear would you advise? I'm sure both warm and cold weather hunting clothes. What about boots? I'll be doing a ton of hiking, I'm sure. And how about a pack? Any words of...
Well said, shoots-straight. I kept the ribs from a cow once. Felt like I was chewing on tires. In fact, I'm still chewing. (shot that elk 4 years ago.) Best for burger or sausage.
