pat2522, this is all pretty new for me so I don't know how good my tips will be. I've gotten a ton of good info from the bureau of land management though. I started there and have just gone on and on. Everyone has been great when requesting maps to hunting sites. Let me know where your going...

    Deer Steak Fingers

Another tip I got from a fish friend....try mixing your flower with dry pancake mix. We use a 50/50 mix. Your deer will come out of the fryer a little fluffier and a whole lot sweeter.

Awsome advice deer_shooter. I'm planing an elk hunt for next fall in Colorado. Will be my first time hunting there. What gear would you advise? I'm sure both warm and cold weather hunting clothes. What about boots? I'll be doing a ton of hiking, I'm sure. And how about a pack? Any words of...

    Elk ribs

Well said, shoots-straight. I kept the ribs from a cow once. Felt like I was chewing on tires. In fact, I'm still chewing. (shot that elk 4 years ago.) Best for burger or sausage.

DIY Colorado Elk fall 2010 hunt

Keep me updated on your Colorado elk hunt. I, too, would like to try my hand at an elk this next year. Any information you can share would really help. (plans, what your taking, ect..) I'm a Kansas man. Plenty of big whitetails where I'm from so I'll pass on the Illinois hunt but post some...

    cow elk hunt in Colorado

No. I live in Kansas. Just about anywhere would be fun for me to hunt. This would be one of those "once in a lifetime" things for me. Just don't have the money for a fancy hunt and to be honest, would rather do it on my own anyway.
