I recently came across the Paria Thermodown 0° sleeping bag online, and it seems like a pretty solid value, and well as being on the lighter side and packs down nicely for backpack hunting. Yeah kind of what I was thinking. In theory, with less people applying and less investment into game and fish departments, it’s very possible that the long term affect is less animals on the mountains as there’d be less $$ for conservation efforts- Drewseph

Agreed here, surely the top 5-10% of point holders are (and maybe should be) pissed. Colorado had to do something about point creep so I don’t hate the idea of going to the Utah-style system. Only thing is these next couple years before the change will be a total crapshoot with so many high... -

Utah Elk Planning
I was super lucky in the lottery portion of the draw and snagged a non-resident mid-season Manti tag that I’m pumped for (my first ever LE tag). In an ideal year I’d love to take a trip out there to do some scouting, but with a 3-month old at home a scouting trip likely isn’t in the cards... -

Non resident hunting advice
I just drew a mid-season rifle elk tag in Utah, and as a Michigan resident who’s only hunted elk out west one other time, I absolutely agree with this. Any legal bull on the ground would certainly be a trophy for me! -
