Closure of Caribou and Moose hunting in NW Alaska - again...

We are booked with Golden Eagle as well. Waiting to hear back from Jared, but I'm sure he's getting bombarded with emails/calls. From everyone I've talked to though, Jared is supposed to be one of the best up there and will hopefully be working backup plans.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has had experience hunting 26a coming out of Kotz?

Talk to you transporter, there may still be good options on state land or on the southern border of 26a which boarders 23. The big issue will be timing of your trip and the migration. If you are going August 20th, that would probably be a good time for 26a based on data from Alaska Fish and...

I'm sure they can, but based on the data from Alaska Game and Fish, I don't believe the herds migrate down to state lands until much later. Thats why this "compromise" wasn't a compromise at all.

Is anyone aware as to whether 26a hunting is good second week of September? We booked to hunt unit 23 through Golden Eagle Outfitters before all of this crap happened. Not sure if Golden Eagle Outfitters can even get us up to 26a, but if they can I think second week of September will be too late.

Looks like the DOI announced a public meeting on March 21st, and final board meeting to decide the proposal is March 30th. See GoHunt's article here https://www.gohunt.com/content/news/public-hearing-for-deferred-alaska-caribou-and-moose-hunts Article does not make it sound promising that the...

Just wondering if anyone has heard when the decision is going to be made? I believe someone told me the meeting would be held in April, but not sure if it has been announced. Myself and 2 friends booked a DIY hunt in the brooks range for this fall, prior to when the originally announced the...

Congrats @Greenhorn, that is an awesome buck! Glad to help on a very rare tag. We will need to grab a beer sometime in the future when i make it up to Montana. I'm leaving Friday for Colorado OTC elk but dreaming of AZ still.

Congrats on drawing the tag! I would be more than happy to help you in every way I can. I will message you separately with my contact information. So many individuals helped me with both my AZ pronghorn tag and AZ elk tag last year and I would be honored to help repay the favor. Look forward...

    Arizona Pronghorn Unit 17A

Unfortunately, my truck was broken into after the pronghorn hunt and my camera was stolen. So I have very limited pictures of the pronghorn himself, but they did not steal the head, and it is currently at the taxidermist.

Thanks for the insight. I want to focus as much as I can on both hunts and put in the most effort as possible to make sure I have a great experience for both. My first scouting trip is planned for may, where I want to get a lay of the land for pronghorn and then try and head over to the elk...
