    why do you hunt

I'm a Hunter Gatherer. That's just what I am. At no point in my life did I make the choice to be a hunter. As far back as I can recall I was catching frogs, catching fish, throwing rocks at birds, you name it. All my family is the same. My kids as well. I've learned from others as I've grown...

How much do y'all pay attention to harvest success %

I look at it, but you have to research to get an idea who’s doing the killing, residents, non-residents, guided, private land, public land, bulls, cows, ect... I live and hunt in Washington with a 5-7 percent success rate on elk and am fairly successfull. So I figure any unit with a primarily...

    CWD ---> Humans.

    Interesting read. https://amp-livescience-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/amp.livescience.com/51763-prion-disease-chemical.html?amp_js_v=0.1&usqp=mq331AQECAEoAQ%3D%3D

    Stalking Footwear

That dude that killed the Gordon buck has what looks like a pair of Five Fingers Men's KSO's toe shoes hanging off his pack in one of the picks in his write up. Is it odd that the one piece of gear they don't seem to be marketing is the one that interests me? Low profile subliminal...

    Gordon Buck

Amazing buck but the marketing hype that goes along with such things these days is saddening. Take for instance the Black Ovis write up. The entire thing is marketing hype, dang near every sentence. And then to turn it into a game show!! And how hypocritical is the opening statement. Every pic...

    Scouting services in crosshairs

That same spider bull type nonsense goes on in Washington any year a record animal is located. Rams, Goats, Bulls, and Bucks are located prior to raffles and auctions and the buyers buy those tags with an animal already targeted. Different rich guy, but same shenanigans. Folks support those...

Fake meat and future of animals for food.

I don't believe the thought that general consumers have blood on their hands is a "moral justification" for hunting. Are there folks that actually think that way? And farming does lots to displace animals and destroy habitat so even Vegan's are responsible for animal deaths. Just being alive...

    Referral?

You don't say enough about the guys physical state. We hunt Wyoming antelope with old folks every few years. I generally end up burning my points to bring up the group average. There are plenty of units you can draw with little points that have "Walk in only" access (research this on the WGF...

First trout of the new year!

You nail the square-ish finish of the wrist section of the tail. I like that. The taper from wrist into the tail would be gradual and the top and bottom rays of the tail start thicker and taper toward the ends. Not sure how you’d achieve that effect. Maybe form the tail by smashing a funnel flat...

First trout of the new year!

I'll provide feedback, but I want you to know its not in any way intended to be negative, or even specific to your work. Hopefully my comments are helpful to you. Not sure if you are going for a Rainbow, Red side, Golden, ect... but I've not seen any of those have random spots on their tails...

The Patched Round Ball Challenge Hunt

I don't see it as an uneducated change. A 50 cal. round ball is roughly 180 grains. A 54 cal. round ball is roughly 230 grains. Both can be launched at about the same velocity. At 1700 fps the 50 cal. ball has ~1100 ftlbs of energy. The 54 cal. ball has ~1400. I don't think I need to mention...

    The Technology Problem

As hunter lethality (success) improves opportunity will need to be reduced to control the numbers of animals harvested. In Washington where I live it seems to be an annual event to legalize some new piece of technology for hunting. Always it seems under the guise of providing for a "more...

    Stoked

That’s more whitetail than I’ve ever brought home. I think you did well. I liked the story and descriptions of the terrain. You might want to refrain from mentioning exact WMA’s and such. You might attract more company than desired.
