    Cheat Grass and dogs?

Man, was hoping to take her into the field tomorrow to really try to gauge her interest, but it might look like poodles just weren't meant to hunt the deserts of Arizona. Thanks for the advice everyone!

    Cheat Grass and dogs?

Lol, if I had bought her for hunting she wouldn't be a poodle! It's supposed to be a family dog but she retrieves better than my buddies lab with no training and she stalks and points while on walks when she discovers birds. The water retriever heritage is weirdly strong with this one! Dang...

    Cheat Grass and dogs?

So I've got a pup that sorta surprised me with her interest in birds and retrieval. I'm considering working on exposing her to more hunting and seeing how she does. The problem is that in Arizona, cheatgrass (foxtail..whatever you wanna call it) is everywhere good quail and rabbit hunting is...

    AZ Southern Hunt

I was in 36A yesterday, saw about 20 deer, with only 2 being bucks. I'm beginning to think I have the wrong unit this year.

    AZ Southern Hunt

I have experience in 36a and 36b hunting javelina, but I'd be down to join. What are the dates?

    Got my first antelope jack!

True, but shoots like a lazer beam for those long desert shots.

    Got my first antelope jack!

Unfortunately it was a yearling that I mistook for a cotton tail, so sorta anticlimactic as far as size goes. Taken with my Browning T-bolt in 17hmr. That round is hot! The headshot didn't leave much head left, so I'm glad I didn't' hit him further back. Now to decide how to cook him up, about...

Newbish but determined to learn, AZ hunter

Just north of your unit is Mt Graham, home to the Mt Graham Red Squirrel that's on the edge of extinction due to it's extreme specialization. Maybe you "Squirrel Slam" get's extra points if you snag a pic of some of the non-huntable ones? I just might take a weekend trip down south in...

Rainfall as a predictor of desert small game abundance

I live in Arizona and I was dreaming about hunting trips this fall, when it occurred to me that with the rain being as scarce as it has been this summer (even the cactus are looking a little wilt-y many places), I figured it'd be a good approach to try to determine rainfall by location for small...

If I only knew this when I first started backpacking....

    Medkit being the notable exception!

    Need a new bag

Really wanna thank you for bringing that up, I did my own research on Kuiu and came to the same conclusion as you. Kifaru seems to check all my boxes, modular, can fit my long torso, all American! I'll see how I like it this fall once the temp's drop below 110 and I can venture outside again.

Dang, this is awesome and I'm still on the first page, thanks!

    Need a new bag

I've been backpacking for a while but the pack I use is an ultralight from osprey and the frame creaks if I get it up over 30 lbs. I'm a big dude made worse by short legs, I'm 6' but my bags and tops always fit like I'm 6' 4'. I'm looking at the Kuiu system since it looks like it's nice and...
