I was just thinking today about some past hunting experiences and I thought I would reach out for some comfort of the guilt that I still carry, although a good teaching experience, it still haunts me to how much worse it could've gone. It's rechambered to a .25-06AI from a .257 ROBERTS. According to what it looks like, I've been shooting 25.06 rounds through it and taking deer with it yearly since I found it. But, I'm going to take it to a gunsmith to get this all checked out to be safe. It's an interesting piece!- brettlapp

Seems to have got some rust action going on, I left it in my pickup during hunting season this year and it got relatively cold. Looks like I've got some work to do. You can see the serial here and the bolt as requested. Thank you all for the help!- brettlapp

That's kind of what I was thinking, too. I'll try to make out the lettering on the serial number and see what I can come up with. I've been definitely considering replacing the scope with something newer, since I can see game far better in my binoculars than I can my scope, it's difficult to...- brettlapp

I've heard that it could be the barrel, supposedly it shooting so hot can burn up the rifling? or something to that effect? I could be completely screwing the wording up.. I kind of figured as much, I mean, considering it was free to me, it would all be profit. But, I'll likely never get rid of it. It's a great rig. Plus, my only other option on the table is my Mosin Nagant, and it's rather accurate too... I've removed the iron sites and filed out the rear to put...- brettlapp
