They definitely don't leak, but I disagree on the "need" for a tarp. Looking at the tarp I have over mine, it has saved many small burn holes from the spark arrestor not catching everything. The canvass is 100% still good and the tarp has 10+ small burn holes. Now maybe the tarp wouldn't have... -

Is it a private land hunt? The western 1/3 is pretty heavily private. The eastern portion is almost all public. Its steep and pretty rugged as it is where the Monarch pass crosses over the range. -

I have a Davis (under old ownership) 16x20, we have hunted anywhere from 2 to 6 out of it comfortably. Reasonable. We are in the draw for Unit 18 first rifle. That is usually an either sex tag, if they want to limit it to bulls only for a while that would be ok by me. I don't know what the full winter was like in that area though. -
