I’m shooting a 70lb Mathews Lift, with a 421-grain arrow and Rage 2” expandables. An interesting observation was that every arrow impacted the bison in such a way that the blades were cutting horizontally. I believe this was causing them to catch a lot of rib bone, which led to the lack of...
That 12 year old bull was pretty cool-- I wish you had ran into him. I saw him a couple days after my hunt and he seemed to have separated himself from the rest of the bulls and was running solo. Chad actually said for a bull of that age he was on the small size somewhere between 1700-1800 lbs...
The hunt was a lot more fun than I expected. I hadn’t been to Custer State Park or that part of South Dakota since I was a child, so it was wonderful to show up a few days early and stay a few days after the hunt to enjoy the area with my father, who drove out from the Midwest. Custer is...

I called the office this AM to see what was going on. The receptionist thought our tags should be mailed out by now and said she would open a case to see about the exact hunting dates. I woke up to see an email and a had a voicemail on my phone about sending in dates...

For you guys who drew have you received anything in the mail yet or anything related to assigned hunting dates? I'm overseas and worried I may be missing something.

I’m planning on tanning the hide...
Recently finished up reading:
Meateater's American History: The Long Hunter - was really just okay at best, I had high expectations but found it fairly boring.
How to Clone a Mammoth by Beth Shapiro - interesting content and certainly learned more about cloning than I ever wanted but...
The Wide Wide Sea by Hampton Sides. If anyone has been spending some time in Hawaii, notably Big Island you'll recognize the name Captain Cook. Interesting read about the Englishman Cook's last voyage where he unexpectedly "discovers" Hawaii and ultimately loses his life there.
I have both but prefer OnX. I did have an issue with OnX this last week where the area I was hunting only partly had a topo map. It forced me switch back and forth between OnX and Gohunt maps on the hunt which made me glad to have both.
I'm definitely more Team Drive. Done both when I use to live in the midwest. I think the luxury of having your own reliable vehicle to pound rough roads and being able to bring meat back in your cooler makes driving well worth the added time. Cost wise, depends what your time is worth.
