    First Bird for Cody.

Took my 10 year old son Cody out for his first turkey hunt this last weekend. We came really close on Friday night after I called a tom and his hen in to about 60 yards, where they hung up and he proceeded to put on an absolute show for us. We were on the ground (saw these birds before we were...

    Big Bullets for Big Animals?

Bought my first rifle when I was 19 (late to the game and my Dad didn't hunt), a 338 RUM (I was and still am 5' 8" and 190 lbs) and some 250 grain Nosler Partitions to go with it. My buddy's uncle was a guide and helped us sight in before that fall's trip and I remember squeezing off that first...

    Colorado Big Game Brochure 2025

I was told by a CPW officer that NR archery quotas will essentially be what they figure the numbers of NR's have been in the past for each particular unit cluster. He said their primary focus was to make folks pick a unit/unit cluster vs popping around all over the state which I had to wonder...

    What are you currently reloading?

I have a full box of these sitting on my bench but the gun I'd like to try them in hasn't loved the 140 weight class, how has your Swede shot other bullets in this weight class?

    What are you currently reloading?

I'm loading up some proven 156 Berger loads for mine and my brother's Brownings, some new loads for a buddy's Seekins (156 in Lapua brass and N565), and going back to the drawing board my son's Christensen Arms Mesa in 6.5 PRC with 130 grain Accubonds and H1000 in Norma brass. That Mesa used to...

    Elk > Deer

I think that sums up my stance in a nutshell. I took a bull in WY last year (saw 4-5 bulls to every buck I saw) and I plan to take another one in CO this year in a unit I saw more bulls then bucks in back in 2009 so, based on the herd trends in CO, the bull to buck ratio should be tipped in my...

    Elk > Deer

I don't disagree with a lot of what you're saying but how can the elk population explode with all of this going on? I've also noted elk from top to bottom at all times of the year, they aren't just in the high country most of the year, they're living at all elevations in a lot of areas and a...

    Car Advice

I think this car would have been long if it weren't for the manual transmission. I've been driving a manual my whole life and if I would have bought this car with an automatic I believe I would have had one of the early versions of their CVT which seems to be the bulk of their problems.

    Car Advice

Well, I appreciate all the feedback and in the end, I went with the "I can't replace it for $1,200" philosophy and told my mechanic to go ahead with the repair. This very well could be a big mistake, but this is the first gamble I've taken on this car in 15+ years, so I rolled the dice.

    Elk > Deer

Maybe this gets talked about more than I see but I personally don't think we're talking about this enough. I've heard from several old timers on the mountain over the years tell me how "there used to be 4 point bucks all over this unit and very few elk and now all we see is elk". I've...
