That’s why I keep my spray on a chest holster where I can activate it without even drawing from the holster. I keep the pistol as backup, spray seems way more idiot/stress proof than a pistol. The spray is also attached to my bino pouch, which only comes off if I’m swapping layers.
Very tough read. The client not having his bear spray on him seems just stupid. I’m new to bear country, but when I’m out I keep my bear spray on my chest, and make sure at least one other person I’m with has spray as well. I’ve noticed a lot of people who have been here for a while seem to be...
Legally there is no expectation of privacy in public spaces. I think public lands fit that bill. Legal or not it seems like common courtesy to not bother someone with your giant electric bug on their day off.
The privacy thing doesn’t really get to me. I’m not standing around in the woods scratching my butt, so it’s not like anyone would get a shot of me doing something embarrassing or anything. But as a reformed city boy, I’m just used to not having an expectation of privacy once I leave my...
I’ve seen some cool drone photos, and they look like they would be fun to make photos and videos with. They can be annoying and I’m glad states are making them illegal for hunting. I was fishing in glen canyon last year and group of people were illegally using their drone and buzzing over me...
I’d like to know more about this too. I recently had a conversation with someone up here who left BHA because he felt they weren’t willing to stand up to the trump admin enough. He said Bha leadership told him because the group is essentially 40% dem 40% republican and 20% independent that...
That’s a fair point and something to think about. But, again I don’t really think 2a issues are an integral part of the meateater show. Public lands are. And the Koch brothers seem to be very anti public lands.
Nuanced opinions make bag campaign slogans, and don’t fit on bumper stickers. Peoples attention spans are so limited these days, most of their information comes from quick sound bites and angry tweets.
I wouldn’t really call meateater a gun centric show. The gun plays such a little part of any of it. They really don’t even talk about guns and shooting much in the podcast. It seems to me to be more about the animals, connection with the land, and food.

I hate to post a link to the federalist. But I’m curious what kind of social media hissy fit...
Doubt it. Fake meat could be a viable alternative to industrial type factory farms. But I think there will always be some demand for locally sourced, traditionally raised animals that will keep the actual meat industry alive. On that scale, small traditional meat producers would probably be more...
