  • Hi Bam,

Was looking into your older thread regarding unit 76. Wanting to know how your hunt went? Will be hunting region d this year and looking for any pointers. Wy resident friend of mine suggested spending time within the national forest and burned areas south. Appreciate your time.

Hello Jrahl- We did not do well, overall. 1 out of the 4 of us shot a buck, and we only saw 2 bucks total in about 7 days of hunting. We saw does on a regular basis, but the bucks were hard to find. The "usual" strategy of glassing from vantage points at first light and last light did not work. Crashing through brush to kick one out was harder, but worked eventually.

I wouldn't recommend that area to anyone except the most experienced mule deer hunters. However, if you are good at finding mule deer bucks in highly pressured areas (even miles from the roads) than you might be able to find bucks.
    Hi Bam

Just read your post about area 21, and I really appreciated that. I’m a very experienced hunter but never bagged an antelope.

Would you be able to help me figure out the accessable land in unit 21? Drew a tag for it this fall after applying for a NR tag for 4 years.
just came across your post after drawing a unit 21 antelope tag. any advice for a first time antelope hunter? thanks

Its me and a buddy going for the opener on oct 15th. The rucking shouldn't be an issue, we've been training with heavy packs all summer. About what area were you hunting? i've been looking mostly on the southern border of the unit

I hunted all over the unit, over many days. As far as exactly where to hunt within Unit 21? You will find that giving out the exact spot that you hunt will murder that particular spot within 2 years, and for the foreseeable future. I'm sure that you didn't mean anything by it, but it is considered very rude among hunters to ask for someone's hunting spots. It's like hanging a tree stand 100 yards from another man's.
Hello! I saw your post from last season that you have hunted for pronghorn in Wyoming area 21. I drew that tag this year and have not hunted that unit before. Would you be able to give me any tips or insight on the access? I am going to bow hunt with my brother August 20th-23rd. If we are unsuccessful we are then going to go back sometime during rifle season 10/15-31st. Appreciate your time, Matt.

Ok good deal. I would suggest that you drive around the day before season, (other hunters will be doing the same thing) and find a Pronghorn herd. Once you locate a herd, get back there before daylight on opening day. With this strategy, you'll have a chance to re-locate those Pronghorn, and get close to them before someone else spots them from the road and messes up your stalk.
