Catch All Fishing Thread

Struggled hard with the reds this vacation. Just couldn't seem to catch them like I used to, no matter what I did. Didn't fish last year, musta been rusty. Leaking waders didn't make my job any easier either.

Went out on an unplanned saltwater trip and absolutely slayed silvers though. Unreal how little time it took to limit out the boat. Made up for my failures on the Russian and then some.View attachment 283882
We called it ‘SOCKBLOCK” when somebody couldn’t catch reds. Glad you got into silvers, my favorite salmon to fish for.

Hahaha, I love but hate that term!

Silvers are fun, but my favorite will always be Russian River reds. I'm just hoping this year's poor showing was a fluke and next year I'll be back to normal

1st time salmon fishing in 35 years. Entered LOC derby lake ontario. Saw nice mark dropped downrigger and caught this guy. 18 lbs and ended up 13th. $41 to enter and $75 prize so fishing math says I made money if don't count the new smart troll system and hundreds in lures and we keep boat expenses in boat expense category. 20240504_123959.jpg

Imagine being a grown-ass man and going fishing.

SMH.

Fun fact: I once ran in to this deleted member at a little lake full of grayling.

He was fishing. So...I'm confused.

2 floats for trout. Lower Clark Fork was good with dries. Bighole was stingy with bluebird days.

Smallies this week as we take the boat on it's maiden voyage.

It’s been great for 3 weeks. Might be good for next 10 days or so and then we are switching to kings and steelhead
This is just remarkable. I remember when the whole thing started in the Great Lakes. I may yet have to go east instead of north for great fishing. Silvers on a fly, bright kings on the table. God was awful good to us.

Sounds like you go a lot - no doubt I have probably seen you at the docks/cleaning station in my days. Been fishing out of Port since I was 4 (so over 30 years). Couple hundred trips, most in one year was 29. Only year I actually had my season launch pass truly paid off and worth it lol

She told me she was done hooking baby sunfish on every cast, and wanted to land a BIG fish that we could keep and eat. We went out for cut-bait today - struck out on two lakes d/t very turbid water from the recent storms. The third spot worked great, we caught dinner along w/ some cut bait for later this weekend.
