Hunter Nation seeking more UT General Fund appropriations for wolves

Peay, who was representing the group Hunter Nation, asked for $500,000 that he said will help keep wolves out of Utah until the state “is granted full management authority over wolf populations.” According to the request, $50,000 will go toward “out-of-state travel” and the remaining $450,000 will be used for “personnel services.” Records show the group received $500,000 from lawmakers last year as well.

I’m old enough to remember Peay calling the ability of the working man to hunt, “socialism”, and here he is swindling an existence off the government teat.

Strange that he hasn’t been run out of town, but Utah has a real strangeness about it.

Two weeks ago I get a call from area code 218. My home country area code in Northern MN. I decide to pick it up. It's a state legislator who is very involved in wildlife issues in MN and is at ground zero of the wolf problems in Northern MN. He listens to the Hunt Talk Radio podcast and wants to talk about wolves, the ESA, and any things I learned in the wolf issues here.

We talked about how the wolf deal happened in the Northern Rockies. We talked about how there are some folks back there who want to stir up trouble and make hunters look like complete idiots. Over an hour of talking and we swap ideas and some names. Before we hang up, I offered any help I might be, whatever that could be.

I start calling around the folks I know involved in Northern MN and a few of the names the legislator had mentioned. Hmmm.

Guess who's coming to save MN from the wolf? DKP and his gang from Utah is telling everyone how they got wolves delisted in MT, ID, WY and how the MN hunters should listen to them. Evidently there's some money to be made with the wolf issue in MN. I cautioned them all to stay as far away as possible from DKP and his pals.
