First Pintail of the Season

Been seeing more and more pintails and finally got myself in the right position. Picked out a good one.



Ended up one bird shy of my limit. Pretty great way to spend the afternoon.

I did. Kind of crazy, I know. I like to get back to places where there aren't many other people. I don't like disturbing others' hunts, and I like my space.

Howdy. Nice bunch of birds. Green Wing Teal, a Mallard drake, and a drake Pintail. The Pintail is, IMHO, the most beautiful duck in flight. They just cruise in so majestically.

I used to hunt Bear River National Wildlife Refuge in Utah...those pintails cruising in with wings cupped would always seem to take forever to get to the dekes.

Up in Alaska, pintails are "brown ducks" because most of our hunting is in September...
thus a 10 bird bag limit (30 in possession).
