Me as well. I've never been a lever action guy (not at,all) but a gun designed and built from the bore to butt by a single individual is something to be admired. I've ALWAYS been a DIY kinda guy.

Had to spend a week over in The People's Republic for work, not much progress on the gun.
Cut down and re profiled the XS scout mount to fit the new contour. Drilled and tapped the barrel to mount the front end of the rail. I was thinking of bedding the rail to the barrel but it looks like it sits on there fine.
Started polishing internals and bedded the forend today.

I'm just discovering this thread and haven't read the entire thing yet, but I have to ask - Isn't this just another way of saying .38-56?

the .38-56 is a well known cartridge that's been around for over a century.
Correct. This is the "improved" version of the 38-56.

I am enjoying the process. I love the details of the story and this rifle.

Dang, I envy your ability to access and master the equipment that you’ve used to make this project. And the product looks great so far, as well!

Since I modified the carrier to accept the longer cartridge, I made a new carrier rocker and moved the hook further back to retain strength.
Had to adjust the timing of the lever and carrier. Seems like it works pretty well, haven't run it hard yet.

P.S. hope you like the video, had to tape my phone to a stool like some kind of poor.

Looks like the timing is pretty much spot on. Feeds pretty well also it seems. This project is shaping up very nicely.

Been doing the monotonous little stuff that always adds up at the end. I polished everything I could get to in the action, did some trigger work, safety delete, and the final piece of the puzzle: the rear sling stud. I didn't need to make it but I figured I'd already made everything thus far so...

I thought exploded view was neat, of course I thought of it after the rail was torqued down.

I'll get some better photos this weekend, and hopefully a range report.

Better photos as promised. Didn't make it to the range today, hopefully tomorrow.
I don't know if it's better to leave these as thumbnails or full size?
