SW Montana Cow Elk?

I was setting up my hunting calendar now that some results are in and I'm planning to hunt mountain mule deer around the NW corner of Yellowstone in late November. As often as possible my wife and daughter hunt with me depending on who has a tag which is not as often the last couple years. MY wife said we should take our camper and spend Thanksgiving hunting together and asked if there was any kind of tag they could get. I didn't think there was but there are unlimited cow elk tags in my primary unit/area.

The area I'm planning to hunt is 7200-10,000 feet, will there be cow elk that late or will they all be lower on private?

Depends on your unit, if it’s in the migration route and it’s not to deep of snow there will be some cow elk around 7,000 but mostly it’s pretty much down in the gallows on blm or state chunks. A lot of those unlimited don’t let you hunt national forest so check the regs.
