Hi, new member from South Central MN. Have been shotgun slug hunting whitetail since I was a teenager, along with some small game. I have recently gotten into rifle hunting in MT and WY (mule deer and pronghorn), and will hopefully be going somewhere for elk in the next 2 years. I camp a lot and have done quite a few backpacking trips before I got into hunting in the western states. I enjoy shooting and am hoping to learn a lot more for upcoming hunts. Right now I have a 7mm Rem Mag (elk) that needs a rifle scope and a 6.5CM I've used for mule deer and pronghorn. I'm torn between that and a 270; but I have a young nephew and my own kids and wanted a little softer rifle they could shoot to get into it (especially since I have a 7mm I could use). Thanks.
