Been trying to find an old 870 for the oldest as he's outgrowing his youth 20 gauge and nobody seems to want to part with one. Might have to look into one of the new ones. Anybody here bought, shot or even held one? Any thoughts? Thanks

I looked at one at Scheels the other day. Definitely a much better fit and finish and smoother action than the express. I bet it would be a very good hard use gun.

I’m glad to hear they’ve improved the fit, I’ve been wanting to find one in a 20 to try out, too. I have a wingmaster in 12 and 16 but being able to swap chokes is a nice option.

That fancy new 700 looks like it may be nice too…

I’ve got 2 different 12 gauges, one is a Fieldmaster, one an Express

Also have a 20 gauge in Express, and just was given a 28 gauge Fieldmaster, which was my grandfather’s

Those 870’s just fit me nice, and shoot great.

Might be wrong but I think your mixing up fieldmaster and wingmaster.

I’ve handled two of the new ones, and they do seem pretty nice. Cycled smoothly, fit and finish looked good.
