My cow hunt begins on Saturday. Very cold (for northern NM, lows around 0 and highs under 32) prediction, which is fine. I just don't trust the weatherman/gal and the demonstrated lack of proficiency in making the right weather call. Very, very reluctant to have my trailer somewhere between 8000' and 1000' - I want to bring it home before May.
Found a campground about 30 minutes from the trailhead where I go in. Electricity, and a shower house.
And a restaurant.
And hot springs. And related spa stuff. Even open late enough that I could soak after a day on the mountain.
My hunting partner is out with foot issues. So she will do the spa thing (yes, my hunting partner is my wife) while I clamber around the woods. Some degree of solace, there, I suppose.
I rather miss the idea of being able to walk from the trailer to the trailhead. But I'll rough it.
I truly do miss my wall tent and woodstove, though.
