Looking to upgrade my trail camera

I'm going to buy a new trail camera. It seems the ones with the ability to send pics or videos to a smartphone have gotten pretty popular. Does anyone have experiences with these types of cameras? Will it work if your cellular signal isn't the best? Do they all require a paid subscription to use this feature, or are some free?

The cell cams are getting quite popular indeed. I currently have a couple of the Covert brand cams and like them. You don't need a great cell signal, but you do need SOME signal for them to be able to transmit. Most require a subscription plan if you want more than 100 pics or so per month. Some offer that very low number of pics for free, but you'll quickly exceed that number in many situations.

Check your state regs. They're becoming more regulated.

I see them being way more regulated in the next couple years. Holding off buying cell camera for this reason alone.

I have neither A) the money to buy said cameras, or B) cell service in the area that i would place them.
