The taste difference is mainly the paper filter. You are tasting part of the paper filter with any drip. The oils also get trapped in the paper filter. I use a French press most of the time. I’ve got the MAN sized one…

My neighbor also recently started a tea bag coffee company. That’s what I use when I am in the field now but always the French press at home and camp.

Also add that the bean is important as is the roast.

Freshly roasted beans, with a burr grinder & and a French press is the standard but a triple shot Americano is always a welcome treat before 11 am.

Blade grinders can burn the oils and reduce flavor while increasing bitterness.

Camp gets the percolator anymore. Camp coffee should have shoulders. And grit.

When I was on patrol in Iraq for 6-8 days at a time, i would pack the MRE instant coffee in my lip like a chew. I'm happy with boiled water and Foldger's instant coffee in my stand. I'm no snob.

Use an old gym sock for a filter, it will add to the flavor of that shitty folgers.

Do yourself a favor, buy the San Francisco Bay French Roast whole bean and a grinder.

I use Maxwell house half caf , I thought it tasted much smoother.
The kid came over for the weekend so we did the blind taste test, French press vs Mr Coffee maker , and everyone was able to tell the difference.
The things I learn on a hunting site that has little to do with hunting amazes me !

I have a buddy that is known for eating straight coffee grounds while taking long road trips to help him stay awake. I do not know if it's the caffeine that helps, or the hours of picking grounds out of all the nooks and crannies of the mouth that gives him his jolt.

The increased intake of oils also helps you become much more regular. It's like a lube for your insides.

Volume. I can drink expresso after dinner and fall asleep.
Raised on Navy style coffee. Dark enough to stain wood.

I have a serious ? Has anyone drank that Black rifle stuff?

I thought it was all crap.
Dark roast tasted like lite 7-11 coffee.
Seals are wusses if this is what they drink. They did not learn this on patrol in a ship. Or on any base I have been around.

There is a Black Rifle Coffee shop in Sevierville(ish) area I've enjoyed their coffee prepared in their shops. I've been underwhelmed when purchasing the ground bags online, especially for the price. Their whole bean stuff was decent but nothing special.

Personally, I think it is a good thing that they do providing jobs for service members, but the coffee is pretty average.

I agree with that. But I was also a little disappointed with some of their other political stances.
