Took my boys out for the opener last Saturday with hopes that the oldest could get fill his second spring gobbler tag. The first place was a bust but the second spot had lots of birds but they weren't overly excited about my calling. It took us about 45 minutes to get three toms to commit, but it sure was cool to see them strutting in 3 across! Even cooler to see my boy drop his bird in a puff of feathers at only 11 yards! Pretty tough to beat the smile on the face of Mr. Turkey Slayer himself:
This is his second spring gobbler in as many years and his 4th turkey in 12 months. Not bad for an 11 year old. For some reason this kid is REALLY hooked on hunting, can't imagine why but I think I have created a monster!
For what it's worth, the old man was able to get one too but it didn't look to good after doing the death roll in a puddle of mud. Not bad 3 come in but only 1 left.
