Anyone handload for this caliber? I'm working up some loads for a coworker and only have RL 19 and IMR 4350 on hand (that seem suitable for caliber). Anyone else use a different powder?

Using 154 grn hornady interlocks w/ a fed 215 primer.

RL22 and IMR4831 are my favorite. I load with 160 accubonds and Sierra game kings with CCI200 primers. I have 2 280s and the powders shoot well in both. I tried RL19 with lighter bullets and it shot so so, RL22 was better.

I have and load for a 280AI. I am currently using RL22, Fed. 215M primers, and Berger 168's. My dad shoots one as well and has had good luck with H4831SC.

Good gun. My dad and I both use one. I remember when he bought the first one brand new like 25 years ago.

Ben, I shoot 57 gr. of IMR 4350. Using a 140 gr Barnes TXS bullet. Crony's at 3140 fps. Shoot great too. This load is over max so you have to work up too it. The reason max is lower in many books is because of the old semi auto loaders that Remington produced. These can't handle max loads. I have no signs of pressure, not even on the primer.

I've got some 4350 and will work up a load with that as well. trying to find it regularly in Helena is like looking for hen's teeth though.

Thanks!

Here is one of my recent loads in my Ruger M77 .280

Great caliber!

I like 56 gr of RL 19 with a 139 gr Hornady going about 2900 FPS.... and scary accurate out of this gun:

My favorite when loading for the 280 was with the 4350. I did try Varget and 4064 and both were fine also but my Ruger 77 preferred the IMR 4350.
