Yesterday was great.
The weather was warm and sunny, the wind wasn't to bad, so I grabbed the canoe and went for a little ride down the Clark Fork River.
It started about noon, and ended right at dark. I put in around five miles as the crow flies, but as the river meanders, I put in close to three times that.
I saw scores of geese and hundreds of ducks...
In the depths of the river in the deeper places that is, you could see lots of fish over 12" plus long. They looked like both White fish and Trout probably browns for their coloring.
There were plenty of places that were a little shallow and I had to get out to push the canoe thru them.
The wind would give me fits on occasion, pushing my craft side ways and into the brush, but it was fun and very relaxing. I can't wait for fishing season to open. I have some areas that I found, that just don't seem to get any fishing pressure.
I think there are a few places where hunting is allowed along the way, so I will have to get some maps of the area and see if I can't pull a few ducks from the area this next season, with maybe even a couple geese.
The river was chocked full of beaver and muskrats. I didn't see any of the beaver, but the signs of their presence were all around on my journey.
I saw muskrats though at least every hundred yards or less, they were everywhere. I didn't get any good pics of the little buggers though, they were always hiding in the shadows, or ducking under the water, just before I could get the camera pointed in their direction.
Over all, it was a very nice trip and well worth the time it took to go, of course then again, it is always great when one gets into the outdoors to enjoy the bounties presented...
