Not really :(

EAGLE, Colo. (AP) - Eagle County commissioners have given preliminary approval to a new unincorporated mountain community in Wolcott.

Community Concepts developer Rick Hermes says Monday's action paves the way for residential, commercial and municipal development about 10 miles east east of Eagle that will eventually include nearly 600 residences and 144,000 square feet of commercial space.

The project is expected to take up to 10 years and create 1,600 construction jobs and 800 community jobs.

The Vail Daily says county commissioners added more than 60 conditions that must be met before construction can begin on the community, which will be primarily located south of Interstate-70 between the resort communities of Edwards and Eagle.

Sorry to hear that. Many moons ago I used to fish Sylvan Lake and Brushy Creek, hunted Hardscrabble mountain and the area around there when Edwards and Eagle were little more than knots in the road. People who are so driven to build communities in the mountains so as to share in the beauty never seem to comprehend that they've destroyed much of the beauty simply by their presence. Nothing is sacred.

You would absolutely not recognize the Brush Creek Valley at this point, 2 giant golf courses, one gated the other not but SPENDY housing. If you want to hunt deer on Hardscrabble you better have a pile of preference points. It pains few worse than I but it was pretty much written in the cards when the interstate was punched though so many years ago.

The only bright spot is both East and West Brush Creek were bought by the state and turned into Sylvan Lake State Park from the forks up.

It sucks but there could be way worse places in the county for developement.

Use to be my favorite region to hunt until Eastmans, Huntin Fool, Monster Muleys, etc... had to go and ruin it. 2005 was my last trip to 35, sure do miss it :(
