I shot this mallard last fall in northern Mn. I noticed something weird on its back. Turns out to be a GPS tracker from Michigan.

very cool, not many of those flying around and your harvest provides a key component to their research - the end result of that mallards life.

What kind of data did you get from it?

Well it had a reward posted on the band. So I called the university and was told they program was discontinued due to funding. So no information was given out. I was just told to keep the GPS tracker.

They said the grant they had just ran out. I wish I knew more.

Very cool. It’s a shame there wasn’t more information.

Just think you now have something to one up band collectors. Next time someone brags about how many bands they have you can be like “yea but do you have a “gps backpack.”
