The shelters in Toronto area have seen a 63% increase in dogs surrendered over the same period last year. They say it's due to people back to workplace and kids back in school. Discarding distractions. Also, the skyrocketing price of pet food may have something to do with it. Sounds like the pandemic price jump for hunting breed pups may be easing if the demand from soccer moms trails off. Anyone thinking about a new pup would probably be well served waiting a little longer.

On a sort of unrelated note, before driving to the range I tanked up on Saturday during the middle of a holiday weekend on both sides of the border (forty minutes away), and discovered the price of gas FELL 24 cents/liter. That's the biggest one-day change I have yet seen. And to see it over a holiday weekend when the price usually jumps the other direction? Weird times. Expect the unexpected.
