Awesome bull! I am headed to Unit 60 for my second elk hunt October 16th! Could only hope and pray to get something like this!Colorado Unit 60, first elk hunt. Able to make it happen opening day. My dad and I were just coming into a new area after first day of scouting and saw a bull coming into a irrigated field. Next day we set up on the other side of the canyon were public and private meet, saw a handful of cows and rag horns. Opening morning we were high above the bulls, waiting to for the right moment to make a move. We ended up having to wait out the handful of local hunters to clear out and push them to secluded area where we could sneak up to. That afternoon I was able to close the distance and make good shot that dropped him where we stood. Found this brute in a group of 4 pts.
That would be a D-16 giant! It was 105 degrees Saturday but I was fortunate to harvest his guy on opening day of A zone rifle season in California. He was in a group of 3 bucks I spotted from a long way off. I made a sneak to 150 yards and thought I was shooting a bigger 3x3 that was in the group, but they had switched places. It was a fun hunt regardless, nice to have more meat in the freezer.
