Hiking 8-12 miles 6 days a week with my daughter on my chest and a pack on my back (and the occasional shed) for the past two months has me feeling ready for muzzleloader season in T-36 days. However, I am definitively NOT ready to go back to work next week.
I think I’m about there and ready. Rifle zeroed, bow and broadheads all tuned, filled a few gaps in my kit with a camo company sale happening right now, new ball joints and such on the rig… Been on a few backcountry trips and have a two more longer distance trips in store this month (~40 & ~25 miles, respectively).
Headed out elk snooping in a few myself.
Did a three-day muley scouting solo camping trip a few weeks ago on the MT-WY border. 105-106 temps. Was brutal... and not very productive as the animals were moving at night. 85 deg at 11 p.m. outside my tent the last night before leaving.
We are heading to Oregon this holiday weekend to chase elk. It's supposed to be in the mid 90's where we are headed. We are going to be looking for water for sure. Hope everyone is getting ready for the season!
I went down to the truck to charge my phone this morning. When I got back to my tent, a cow and calf moose had moved into my campsite. Literally 5 feet from my tent with only a crappy boma separating them.
