Cow hunt??

I am trying to talk a buddy of mine into elk hunting and am looking for a left over cow hunt in Wyoming. He has never hunted out west before for elk. Can anyone recommend a outfitter or a unit that has good odds. Don't need anything high class. Please send me a PM. Would prefer the eastern 1/2 of Wyoming however beggars can't be picky

Wyoming has lots of opportunity for cow hunting. Look at the left-over license list and you can tell where the numbers are. As far as odds, if the unit has lots of permits, then it means lots of elk. However, that does not necessarily equate to success. Be willing to put in lots of foot miles to up your odds at success.

Generally, the later you hunt, the more elk will be in accessible areas-but still may not be easy to get! If you can get a left-over list from last year, it will give you a pretty good idea what this year will be. From there, make a decision and start doing your homework-calling Game and Fish, On-x maps etc., etc.
