Just purchased non-res preference point for CO elk.

I read where the CO big game application fee INCLUDES an annual fishing license.

I leave for a fishing trip on April 1st.

Am I good to go with my printed big game application receipt or ???

Thanks

Technically you didn't purchase a point, you applied in the elk draw. If you are successful in the draw (meaning you actually draw an elk license), you will also receive a NR fishing license. If you are "unsuccessful," meaning you only get a preference point, you will not receive a fishing license.

The short answer is that if you only applied for a preference point, you need to purchase a fishing license.

Yes, I technically "applied" for a preference point for my first choice (only entered the preference point code). Thus, I won't really be unsuccessful.

But it does make sense that they would only provide/include the NR fishing license for those that were successful drawing an actual hunt. Just thought I'd ask. :)

Thanks for the reply!
Eric
