I've seen a similar one last year when I was hunting in the Shirley's, but I only had a cow tag and he knew it!

I have to be honest here...I would probably take him...unless I have seen a bigger guy and have time to try for the bigger set. I am a meat hunter primarily but I will take a trophy if it presented itself. Generally, I will take a 4 point or bigger full bodied bull. I will not take anything less. I would rather use the license on a mature cow otherwise.

From the pics of 2016 in his prime, he appeared much wider, but he regressed and was still 62" when he died, WOW.

I believe he was 12.5 years old when he died. The teeth were sent to the WG&F lab and aged there.

If you ever get a chance to take the ride through the refuge in the winter it is really something to see all those elk in one place.

I did it in 1996 and it really lit my elk hunting fire.

Wife and I did that a few years back for Christmas. -15 that morning and I let all the other folks have the blankets to cover up with. Full camo winter gear got some strange looks!
