So I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to bear hunting. I think I'm going to fly home to MT for a quick hunt this spring. What in your opinion would be the the best time to hunt bears in MT? Early, late, mid season? I'm probalby only going for a 2-3 day hunt so I need to sway the odds best I can. It will be SW montana if it makes a diffrence.
I haven't shot a bear in years, but used to see plenty of them in the spring when I was horn hunting. Seems like I remember seeing the majority of them around the end of April or the first couple weeks of May. So I guess that would be mid season or so.
Any tips, tricks, etc when it comes to hunting them?
