My friend Steve and I went out for a last hunt before he has to return to his home in NoCal. We went to a different area than we had been hunting. The desert has many variations and our first walk was in an area that was covered with volcanic rocks of various sizes
Like walking on a field of softballs. Hard on old feet.
A nice saguaro
Did put up one covey but only managed one bird out of it so decided to move a few miles north into completely different type of desert. We are at an elev of about 3200 feet here. That is a huge open pit copper mine near Bagdad az in the distance and hwy 93 is also visible.
Warm day, 70 degrees
Steve and his dogs top a rise
A beautiful area with varied types of desert plants
Didn't see any quail but it was a very enjoyable walk.
The dogs cool off.
