Even in the summer the intrepid squirrel can, and sometimes will go out in the yard to pee on the doghouse corner.
Went on a 25 mile walk-about with 3 veterans and 5 new guys. Snow pack was incredible for late summer, it was still spring-like conditions with only the earliest flowers sprouting. Off trail for the most part and some fairly difficult terrain in places. A couple friends tagged along and were a bit over their heads, both in physical conditioning and in terms of navigational abilities, but all the team made it home alive and the youngest llamas passed a graduate level course with flying colors, though everyone was loaded very lightly, as is always the case when having 8 llamas for three people for just a few days. It is more of an issue having something for everyone to carry than having what you truly need.
It's not easy to get by for two nights with only 3-400 lbs of gear, after all, some times you run out of BBQ sauce for your pulled pork wilderness sandwiches.
Calf ratio seemed very low to me, horn growth was evident in spades in the bulls.
The beauty of the country was , to say the least, spectacular.
